Kathleen Dungan, Manchester

I’m originally from Orpington, South East London and spent my undergrad at Loughborough University studying for an MChem. My Masters project involved looking at how degraded PVC affected the solubility of nickel under geological repository conditions.

Having always been interested in all things nuclear, I decided to do a PhD at the University of Manchester. My research will be looking at the key drivers of radioactive waste disposal, then relating these to the waste produced by a selection of potential future nuclear programmes.

Outside of research I love spending time outdoors (particularly camping and walking in the UK, scuba diving in warmer places) as well as getting involved in Girl Guiding and Scouting.
